Our 2022 Repechage Red Wine is a combination of three lots, our Napa Valley Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Both were hand picked and hand sorted prior to being destemmed and crushed for fermentation.
Both lots utilized a combination of BM4x4 and F15 oenological yeasts and barreled down in French oak barrels. For barrel aging we utilized a combination of Gamba, Alain Fouquet and Sylvain cooperages.
Over the course of twenty-two months of barrel aging we opted to set aside a handful these barrels to craft this wine which became a blend of 42% Merlot 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Cabernet Franc.
This vintage was bottled on August 14th, 2024 with 15.13% alcohol, 7.60 g/L total acidity and a pH of 3.60. Sulfites we adjusted to a level of 30ppm (parts per million) prior to bottling to inhibit microbial activity. Sugar free (less than 0.30 grams per bottle). No filtering, fining agents or animal products were used in the production of this wine.

Our “Repechage” Red Wine has quickly become a fan favorite among the red wines we produce. This Bordeaux blend varies each year but is primarily a combination of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with select years featuring Cabernet Franc as well.
What does Repechage mean you ask?
The “second chance” race given to those crews which fail to qualify for the finals from an opening heat. “Rep” qualifiers move onto semi-finals or finals depending on the number of entries. Used in international racing.
During my years rowing for Gonzaga University we ended up in a few of those Repechage races. As our wine program added on other varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, certain barrels were omitted from those blends but we did not want that “leftover” wine to go to waste! We had to give it a second chance for greatness.
